Bannister and Beijing

As the song nearly says.....

I joined the DSS to see the sea and what did I see?

I saw the Tower, the Illuminations and, of course., the sea! Yes, I started in Blackpool. But after 4 years  it was time to move on -  firstly to Southampton ,and  then to London  -and from there to the world, How did that world begin? At a Conference in Washington DC I was able to describe to  Americans  and others who wanted to learn  how we  Brits and other countries operated their pension arrangements. What I had described was picked up by someone involved in  the introduction and regulation of the newly legalized private pensions regime in Russia. Perhaps, what  I had described in Washington would assist in advising the Russian Pensions Ministry  and  officials  of recently introduced  legislation similarly government officials  in Russia. and then in Kyrgyzstan. I was recruited..

Leaving Central  Asia my colleague and  i led training courses on pensions in a number of countries in East and West Africa and the Caribbean. 

After working in Russia for some years  I moved to live and work in China  for 5 and a half years in Beijing. to assist  the Chinese officials on pensions arrangements

returning home to Bannister Close I started helping in leading a toddler group at our church.  

So why Bannister? Our road is named after Roger", the first man to run a mile in less than 4 minutes.;

The next road is Hillary Road, named after Edmond Hillary, the first conqueror of Everest.

So you can easily date us!.
